The FAQS

About me: My name is Chris Traub, the youth minister here at Holy Family. I am blessed to have had God guide me to this wonderful community. I am married with no kids, but hope to have a big family in the years to come. Besides my faith, other passions include listening to music (as I have no musical talent myself), coaching and playing soccer, and bringing others closer to Christ. I am excited to watch this ministry continue to grow and am honored to help the young people of this parish continue on their faith journey.

Mission Statement: Emmaus youth ministry exists to deepen our teens’ personal relationship with Jesus Christ by cultivating a spirit of discipleship and building a strong foundation for their Catholic faith.

The Who: We are called Emmaus youth ministry based off of the passage in Luke 24. This passage is unique to Luke and is not found in any of the other gospels. Emmaus means "warm spring" which connotes a rebirth or cleansing and calls to mind our baptism.

For Whom: Emmaus is for all high school teens and 8th graders in the second semester of school. Also, adults can volunteer to chaperone and facilitate.

The Where: We have most of our weekly Emmaus nights on the Holy Family grounds either in the rectory basement or in the gym. Flyers can be found in the narthex of the church after every mass with details on the upcoming Emmaus night.

The When: We meet almost every Sunday night from 6-8pm. Besides the weekly Emmaus gatherings, there are also frequent social events and service opportunities available.

The How: If you are a teen... just show up! There is no registration required for the Emmaus nights. However, for the social and service events you must contact me first for permission forms etc. Adults interested in volunteering MUST contact me first.

The Why: There are many reasons to join Emmaus at Holy Family. You WILL make new friends, you WILL grow closer to Christ, you WILL learn more about your Catholic faith, you WILL help those in need, you WILL have opportunities to contribute to this parish, and finally... you WILL have fun!
