Welcome to the Holy Family School Web Site. Holy
Family is located south of Plainfield in the city of Shorewood.
We are a Catholic grade school serving the needs of our community
from three-year old preschool through grade eight. Our program
consists of daily religion, math, language arts, social studies
and science. Art, physical education, computer skills and music
are taught once or twice a week. We are blessed to have 16 acres
of land for the children to
play on and a full playground filled with wonderful equipment
for gross motor development. Presently, we have been at our new
location for 11 years. A hot lunch is offered on a daily basis,
along with special lunches provided by our Home and School Organization.
Volleyball, basketball and flag football are offered in grades
5-8. A baseball team is a new addition to the Holy Family Athletic
program and if offered to junior high students.
Holy Family is a school dedicated to meeting the diverse learning
needs of its students. Parents are recognized as the primary educators
of their children and form a strong bond with the classroom teachers
to create a positive environment for learning. We recognize that
each child is on an educational journey, and not a race. Algebra
is taught in eighth grade for students meeting the criteria. Spanish
is taught in seventh and eighth grade, twice a week. The following
programs are offered after school to enable students an opportunity
to develop their talents: Young Rembrandt’s Art program, Mad Scientists
program and chess club.
The staff of Holy Family is very qualified, with many years of
experience. Teachers continuously work toward higher levels of
education by enrolling for graduate course work. Technology is
integrated in all subjects. Our classrooms are equipped with TVs,
DVD players, LCD projectors, interactive white board Mimios and
air slates. All the new equipment at Holy Family works toward
creating a 21st century education for the students. Holy Family
has state of the art security, keeping the students safe at all
times.
Leading to Reading (LTR) is a phonetic based reading
program with 13 skill levels enabling primary students to work
at independent levels. It is a multi-age hands-on program directed
to the skill needs of each student. Children work in small groups
to accomplish the goals set according to their level.
Junior High students succeed with differentiated
instruction in Math and Language Arts. We have 2 part-time teachers
working directly with the skill ability of junior high students.
This provides students an opportunity to develop their potential
in small group instruction.
This year we are blessed to add a part-time reading
specialist to our faculty. We are always looking for talented
educators who can prepare our students for the global society.
Our goal is for every student to experience success with dignity.
The warm, welcoming aura of our school is something
we are all proud of. The pride we have in the academic achievements
of our students and accomplishments of our athletes infuses our
school. Holy Family offers families an opportunity to become members
of a vital, growing community focused on Catholic Identity. We
are grateful for the gifts bestowed upon us and continue to seek
the grace of our Lord. We will continue our call to be advocates
for the children in our Catholic School.
