Mrs. Jeriha
Hello. My name is Ann Jeriha. I am the fourth grade teacher at Holy Family School. I guess you could refer to me as the school historian since I am the teacher who presently has taught at Holy Family the longest. In 2012, I will celebrate my twentieth year at Holy Family School and my 28th year of teaching. I have taught at several schools during my career. Holy Family School felt like the placed I belonged the minute I walked in the door, and I still feel that way today.
I knew that I wanted to work with children in some capacity since I began babysitting in high school. Most of my paid and volunteer activities seem to revolve around children. I taught swimming lessons at the YMCA after school as well as to deaf and blind children on the weekends. I was a camp counselor and worked one summer as the arts and crafts director for the Joliet Park District. It seemed only logical that I seek a career in education.
I attended the University of Illinois where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in science and health education. Throughout my entire career, I have continued to instruct children implementing best practice teaching strategies. I attend courses and workshops that are technologically and educationally challenging to insure my students are getting the best education possible.
My husband and I have been married for 39 years and have two wonderful daughters both of whom are college graduates with fulfilling jobs. I have one granddaughter for whom I am so grateful to have in my life. I have been truly blessed!
